The latest release of the Blackboard Learning System, Release 7.1, provides the ability for instructors to further address diverse learning styles and foster a student-centered learning environment. This workshop introduces users to Adaptive Release, Review Status, advanced assessment questions, new test creation and presentation options, and the augmented Discussion Board features - all of which can greatly enhance the learner's experience.

Pre-Conference Workshop (€195) Blackboard Learning System 7.1 - Product Update 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
The Blackboard Learning System TM, Release 7.1 builds on the new features developed in Release 7.0.This workshop will briefly cover the features in Release 7.0 including multiple languages, customized languages, offline access to Blackboard through Backpack, and advanced assessment tools and customized learning paths for students. It will then focus in depth on the new features of Release 7.1, including intuitive discussion boards, performance dashboard, graded forums and threads and the visual text box editor (WYSIWYG).
This workshop is designed for people who are currently using Releases 7.0 or 7.1 and want to further understand the full range of features and how these can be adapted for differing teaching and institutional goals. It will also be invaluable for those looking to learn more about what this release offers and how they can best use it for course design and teaching or professional development, as they move to this version in the future. Participants will leave with a thorough understanding of the features of the Blackboard Learning System, Releases 7.0 and 7.1 and be able to ask questions and offer ideas based on their teaching and learning approaches. Depending on product availability, Release 7.2 may be explored as well.

Pre-Conference Workshop (€195) Exploring the Blackboard Portfolio for Vista & CE 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Blackboard Portfolio TM for Vista & CE is a new product that allows students and faculty to create, compile, and share online portfolios with other students, instructors, and guests. During this workshop, participants will explore the types of learning artifacts that can be included within portfolios. Through a scenario-based activity, participants will gain an understanding of how to create and manage their own portfolios. Finally, participants will review common use of portfolios in higher education and brainstorm strategies for incorporating this product into their institution's curriculum.

This workshop will focus on the features of the Blackboard Community System, with a particular look at recent features such as the management of independent domains found in Release 7.1.
